MCE Formally Introduced to Chiefs in The Municipality.

The Management of Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kingsley Osei and Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Amoah paid a courtesy call to the chiefs and elders of Frante, Sekyedumase and Anyinasu on Friday 22nd October 2021.

The visit was to officially introduce the new MCE, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei to Nananom and to seek their blessing for the work ahead of him.

The MCE in his address at all the places requested for the full support of the Chiefs and the people for the development of the Municipality. He assured them that his doors were always opened for their constructive inputs and counsel as partners in development.

The visit first took the MCE and his entourage to the palace of the Frantehene after which they proceeded to Sekyedumase and finished off at the palace of the Anyinasuhene. All the Traditional Leaders of the three Councils expressed their profound gratitude to the MCE and his entourage for the visit.

At Frante, the Frantehene, Nana Owusu Sekyere described the visit as historic since this is the first time that a newly sworn in MCE was paying a visit to the chiefs before assuming official duties. He expressed the believe that this gesture was a sign that MCE values their contribution and would involve them in his administration, which he described as a step in the right direction.

He urged the new Municipal Chief Executive to include periodic tours through the Municipality in his Administration to help him have first hand information on the needs and expectations of the people to aid in his planning and decision making.

The Chief then appealed to the MCE to attend to the pressing needs of the community which he said were the construction of the Frante – Sekyedumase road and the inner roads in the community to reduce the stress and frequent accidents in the area. The Chief also called for the completion of the Frante Clinic to improve the health care of the people.

The Krontihene of Sekyedumase, Nana Gyapa II in his short address congratulated Hon. Dr. Osei for his nomination and confirmation as the MCE and admonished him to always pursue equity and always attend to the calls of Nananom in the development of the Municipality.

He cited a brief history prior to the creation of the Ejura Sekyedumase District Assembly where he stated that the people of Sekyedumase and Ejura felt sidelined in the development of the Offinso District  and Mampong District (then Sekyere West) where they respectively belonged.

This led to the two communities and the adjourning communities wishing for “independence” from those Districts which eventually materialized in the Ejura Sekyedumase District Assembly. He therefore called on Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei to treat all the communities forming the Municipality fairly so as to keep the aim of creating the Ejura Sekyedumase District Assembly alive.

Nana Gyapa II pleaded for the construction of a drainage system at the Sekyedumase market to curb the erosion and frequent casualties being recorded in the area. The Chief also called for the furnishing and posting of more officers to the Sekyedumase Police station which according to him is currently being manned by only five (5) officers.

He also requested of the MCE to consider or aid the Youth of the community in various government recruitment or create more employment avenues for them.

Other requests tabled by the Chief were the renovation of the Community Center, adequate staffing of the Sekyedumase Polyclinic, Nursery and KG for the Boakye Ansah Basic School at Sekyedumase and the solution to water problem of the community.

The MCE and his entourage ended their visit at Anyinasu, where Nana Yeboah, the Adontehenene said they had kept a stool for MCE, since the Chiefs regard the MCEs as Nkosuohene of which Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei was no exception hence he was expected to live to expectations of the title of Nkosuohene.

He further urged Hon. Dr. Osei to continue with the projects his predecessors had started. The Chief and his elders requested for electricity extension to other parts of the community with the additional transformers since the only transformer for the whole community was not enough.

The Chief also called for the completion and commissioned for use the Community center which was started some time back.

The MCE in response to the Chiefs request assured them that their requests had been taken noticed of and that the national cake would be shared equally.  Concerning the construction of the roads, he said he was negotiating with Prof. Yaaba and Alhaji Yusiff for construction of Asphat on the Ejura – Sekyedumase road.

Other members of the team were Mr. Ebenezer Dangeh, the Assistant Director IIB, Mr. Benjamin Smith, the Roads Engineer, Mr. David Adu-Mensah, the Works Engineer, Mrs. Harriet Aveti, the Municipal Information Officer and PRO for the Assembly, Mr. James Frimpong, Protocalo Officer and Ms. Judith Osei-Wusu of the Works Department.

Others were Mr. Paul Kwaku Duut, the NPP Constituency Chairman, some Assembly Members and other party folks.
