Department of Food & Agriculture

The Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality is an Agrarian community and acclaims the title;

“Food Basket of the Ashanti Region”.

The agricultural sector contains the largest economic activities in the Municipality, employing the largest percent of the labour force. It is concentrated in the rural communities.

The department has the following, but not limited to, assigned responsibilities:

  • The department of food and agriculture is responsible for the monitoring of agricultural activities in the Municipality.
  • The Agricultural Department provides leadership for the development of agriculture and sustainability of the agro-environment in the Service.
  • The department promotes policies, strategies and appropriate agricultural technologies necessary to improve agribusiness, agro processing and crop/animal/ fish production.
  • It also organizes agricultural field schools, workshops and seminars to assess farmers’ participation and the level of adoption of new farming technologies and practices.
  • Enhance farmers skills on new and improved methods of productions
  • Collaborate with the Central Administration in the organization of the National Farmers Day and Award hardworking farmer during the celebration.
