ESMA’s Municipal Chief Executive Sworn Into Office

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah on Friday, October 8, 2021 sworn into office, 39 out of 43 confirmed Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Region. They were sworn into office after being confirmed by assembly members in their respective assemblies.

The colorful and elegant ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Yaa Asantewaa building of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council.

Honorable Dr. Kingsley Osei, the President’s nominee for the Ejura – Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly accompanied to the event with friends, family, loved ones, party faithfuls and executives.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Osei Mensah urged the new MMDCEs to eschew corruption, but rather be transparent in the discharge of their duties and also tasked them to work closely with all stakeholders to bring development to their respective areas.

He also asked the MMDCEs to tackle issues related to security, illegal mining and revenue generation in their various District, Municipalities and Metropolitan.

“I am confident and trust in the capabilities and competencies of each one of you to deliver. It is, therefore, my expectation that you stay focused and committed and defend the gains made in the implementation of the numerous social interventions, policies, and programmes,”

He said.

He then appealed to the MMDCE’s to give reverence to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and all other chiefs within the region as the Ashanti Region is a region of great tradition and culture, where the chieftaincy institution is highly revered.
