ESMA Undertakes Sod-Cutting and Commissioning of Twelve (12) Development Projects Municipal-Wide


The ceremony was led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rafiu Adam Seidu, together with the Honourable Member of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Bawah Muhammad Briamah. Also in attendance were the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Ayine Adongo, staff of the Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Education Office, the Municipal Health Directorate, Assembly Members, representatives of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and party faithful.
The delegation visited and undertook project activities in communities including Miminaso, Attakura, Samri Nkwanta, the Market Area, Ashakoko, and Ejuraman Anglican School, among others. The projects were funded through a combination of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), the Member of Parliament’s Common Fund, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. This blended funding approach underscores the Assembly’s strategic commitment to leveraging multiple financing streams to accelerate infrastructure expansion, enhance service delivery, and promote sustainable socio-economic growth across the municipality.
In furtherance of national development objectives, the Municipal Chief Executive acknowledged the visionary leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, whose Accra Reset Agenda continues to provide strategic direction for accelerated infrastructure development, improved public service delivery, and inclusive socio-economic transformation nationwide.
He noted that the projects undertaken within the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality are aligned with the Reset Agenda’s priorities of strengthening local governance, expanding access to quality education and healthcare, improving sanitation, and stimulating community-level development. The Assembly remains committed to translating national policy frameworks into tangible interventions that directly improve the lives of residents.
The Municipal Chief Executive also commended the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, for his dedicated leadership and coordination of development efforts within the region. He emphasized that the Regional Minister’s commitment to effective supervision and collaboration has significantly strengthened project implementation and inter-agency cooperation across the Ashanti Region.
The Assembly reaffirmed its readiness to continue working closely with the Regional Coordinating Council to ensure that municipal development initiatives contribute meaningfully to the broader regional and national transformation agenda.
During the ceremony, two completed projects were officially commissioned for immediate public use. These included:
- A 22-seater WC toilet facility equipped with a mechanized borehole, 12 lockable private bathrooms, 8 urinals, and 4 hand-wash sinks to serve market traders and residents; and
- A rehabilitated 1No. 3-unit classroom block with an office and store.
These projects are expected to significantly improve public health, sanitation standards, and environmental hygiene through the provision of modern sanitary conveniences, while also enhancing access to quality education via the rehabilitated classroom block.
In his address, Hon. Rafiu Adam Seidu reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to implementing people-centered initiatives that directly address the needs of residents.
“These projects demonstrate our resolve to improve the living conditions of our people. We remain committed to ensuring equitable development across all communities within the municipality,”
he stated.
Hon. Alhaji Bawah Muhammad Briamah also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Assembly’s development agenda, emphasizing the importance of unity and cooperation in driving sustainable growth.
“Development is a shared responsibility. I will continue to collaborate with the Municipal Assembly to mobilize additional resources and attract more projects that will enhance the welfare of our people,”
the MP assured.
The Municipal Chief Executive and the Honourable Member of Parliament also performed sod-cutting ceremonies for ten additional projects, namely:
- Construction of a 1No. 3-unit classroom block at Miminaso
- Construction of a 1No. 3-unit classroom block at Anyinaso
- Construction of a 1No. 3-unit classroom block at Kwasiakan
- Construction of a CHPS compound at Attakura No.2
- Construction of a CHPS compound at Kantankani
- Construction of a CHPS compound at Ajamasu
- Construction of a CHPS compound at Fameshebabi
- Construction of a Sickbay at Ejuraman Anglican SHS
- Construction of 12-seater WC toilet with mechanised borehole at Ashakoko
- Drilling and mechanisation of fifteen (15) boreholes across selected communities
The Municipal Chief Executive assured residents that contractors have been duly engaged and that robust monitoring and supervision mechanisms have been instituted to ensure quality execution and timely completion of all projects.
Traditional authorities and community members expressed profound appreciation to the Municipal Chief Executive, the Member of Parliament, and the Assembly for their collaborative leadership in bringing development closer to the people. They pledged their continued support in safeguarding the facilities to ensure sustainability and long-term community benefit.
The sod-cutting and commissioning of these projects mark a significant milestone in the development journey of the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality, reinforcing the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth, improved infrastructure, enhanced service delivery, and sustainable socio-economic transformation for all residents. This achievement is driven by strong collaboration between municipal leadership, stakeholders, and funding partners.
