MOFA Organizes a Sensitization Workshop on Rice Production in Ejura
Under the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative by the Ghana Government, The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) in collaboration with Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly and AGRA held a sensitization workshop and field visit in Ejura on a project called ‘Ghana Rice Project’, which is a public-private partnership.
The Government of Ghana is rolling out this project in 15 Districts in Ghana and Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality is one of these 15 Districts that is benefiting from this project.
Under the project, Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality is targeting about 2000 farmers as beneficiaries. This project intend to;
- Supply subsidized rice seeds to farmers
- Supply subsidized fertilizer to farmers
- Provide capacity building / technical support to farmers
- A proposal to renovate Aframso Irrigation River to serve numerous rice farmers. Other crop growers will also benefit when this is completed.
The expectation of this workshop is to help boost rice production and as well as equip rice farmers in the municipality with the right skills and technology needed to achieve such boost.
