MCE Inspects Solar Powered Corn Mill Facility at Sekyedumase
On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, the M.C.E. for Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Salisu Bamba, accompanied by the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto and the Ashanti Regional Agric Director, Mr. John Manu, inspected a Solar Powered Corn Mill, a pilot project, under the 1D:1F flagship Program in Sekyedumase.
At Sekyedumase, some farmers who thronged the occasion expressed heartfelt thanks to the M.C.E. for his vision, and initiative, in bringing the project into being.
They also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government for the Planting for Food and Jobs initiative. The PFJ program, the Farmers acknowledged, has helped more than doubled their Farms lots.
The Farmers, also, used the occasion to highlight some challenges whittling their productivity, invasion of Fall Army-worms, somewhat delays in the arrival of fertilizers and inadequate Tractor Services.
After he had listened to the farmers, and promised to address their grievances,Hon. Mohammed Salisu Bamba directed that any Farmer who needs the Assembly’s assistance with regards to the services of a Tractor and Planter should call on his outfit; and his wish would be granted.
The Team also met with a group of Tractor Operators and Agro-Chemicals Dealers at the Ejura Agric College; and unveiled many Government’s Support-Schemes in the offing. More to that, the group was assured of sustained price-control mechanism on the sale of fertilizers under the PFJ program; and that the government will look into the possibility of providing the Tractor Operators with Free Fitting Services as and when the need arises.
The M.C.E. and his entourage were, then, briefed on the challenges facing the activities of the group. In their responses, the M.C.E., Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Salisu Bamba and the Minister assured the group of massive government’s support in the not too distant future.
