ESMA supports PWDs with working tools, equipment and other related items

The Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly (ESMA) has distributed some working tools, equipment and several assorted items to over 150 persons with disability (PWD) in the municipal as part of activities to mark this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

The equipment includes Fridges, Deep freezers, Sowing machines, Grinding Machines, Fufu pounding machines, Hair drying machines, Live Stocks, Food stuffs, Popcorn Maker Machine, Agro chemicals and Sprayers and many more.

Some of the beneficiaries also received startup capital for mobile money vending as well as school fees and other related cash prices.

The MCE, Hon Mohammed Salisu Bamba, who presented the equipment to the beneficiaries in fulfillment of the Disability Fund Act 175, said the Assembly was committed to lessening the plight of PWDs, to be economically sound.

He said the support was to assist the PWDs to establish medium scale enterprises in order to earn a living to support their families and society.

He assured that the Assembly would embark on a monitoring exercise to ensure that the equipment and funds were put to good use.

He also encouraged PWDs in the municipal to take advantage of the fund and send their applications to the Disability Fund Management Committee of the ESMA for consideration.

Among the beneficiaries were visually and hearing-impaired individuals, physically challenged, cerebral palsy sufferers, albinos and epilepsy patients.

The beneficiaries were very glad to receives these items as it was evidenced in their gestures and merry making.
