ESMA Holds Second Budget Committee Meeting for “24”

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the ESMA’s budget unit organized their Budget Committee meeting at the Assembly’s conference hall. The meeting covered previous minutes, the 2024 mid-year review, the budget performance for 2024 as of October, the presentation of the draft 2025 Fee Fixing Resolution, the Composite Budget, and the Revenue Improvement Action Plan (RIAP) of the Assembly for deliberations and onward submission to the Finance and Administration sub-committee.

The Municipal Budget Officer, Mr. Bismark Osei Tutu, provided a brief update on the progress of the 2024 budget as of October. He reviewed the performance of IGF from January to October 2024 and presented the fee-fixing rates for the year, along with the revised rates.

The committee discussed ways to improve revenue collection for certain items and reduce specific expenditures, as well as the increases and decreases of some rates.

Regarding revenue mobilization, some departmental and unit heads suggested forming a committee to oversee the affairs of the Ejura, Sekyedumase, and Anyinasu markets, focusing on revenue mobilization in these areas.

Members were encouraged to participate fully in the deliberations and propose strategies to help the Assembly improve its revenue generation.

The meeting was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Heads of Departments and Units of the Assembly, and other senior and junior staff members.

The meeting was deemed successful, and the Budget Officer thanked everyone for their attendance and contributions. He concluded by moving for the adjournment of the meeting.
