ESMA Holds A Staff Durbar At The Fore Court Of The Assembly
The Ejura- Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly holds a staff durbar at the forecourt of the Assembly on 31st January, 2024. Staff durbar creates avenue for Management and Staff to interact and address issues bothering the organization and find lasting solutions to such concerns to enhance service delivery.
The Coordinating Director, Mr. Fred Kpodo highlighted on some issues the staff of the assembly should pay attention to in the year 2024.
He said they should have attitudinal change, The Director of the Assembly advised staff to be a problem solver. Thus to change their old ways of doing things which are not right and focus on positive attitudes towards their various roles in the assembly.
He also said they should be Politically neutral; he explained that since we are in an election year, staff should remain neutral in their body of politics so that they can work effectively with any party elected in to office.
Mr. Fred Kpodo further emphasized on Credibility of staff; he encouraged them to work harder in order to erase any bad perception of people about the assembly. He urged them to ensure Service delivery standards such as professionalism, participation, coaching and mentoring, effective and efficient use of resources, among others.
The Coordinating Director ended his address by touching on Revenue Generation for the Assembly. He said almost all the activities and programs require finances and they were mostly funded by Internally Generated Funds (IGF). He encouraged staff to work harder in order to improve the IGF.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei, thanked God Almighty for His protection and guidance of the assembly throughout last year. He also added up some key areas. He encouraged staff to report all issues of concern to their various heads to be forwarded to the appropriate authority for a redress.
He said they shouldn’t wait for staff durbars before presenting their concerns to Management. He further uged them to check their attitudes towards work. The MCE advised staff to demonstrate positive attitude towards their works in other to ensure high productivity in the year 2024.
Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei encouraged staff to work harder to support the government no matter their choice of political party since the government has performed extremely well to help the people of the country comparatively.
After MCE and the Coordinating Director had addressed staff, opportunity was given to staff to ask questions / contribute towards the development of the Municipality. A key challenge noted at the durbar was lack of transportation and funds to carry on activities, sanitation issues at some Departments, grants not fulfilled, among others. Management answered all questions asked at the forum and ensured that staff were ok with the responses given.
