Presentation of Goods and Logistics to PWDs by MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei on 20th January 2022, presented some packages, goods and logistics to People who are physically challenged in the Municipality at the forecourt of the Ejura-sekyedumase Municipal Assembly.
In his address, the Municipal Chief Executive stated that the initiative was an annual activity introduced by the NPP Government. He elaborated that it showed how much the NPP government cared for PWDs.
He added that they gave them all the assistants needed to make life comfortable for them and also they were not left out in governance of the Municipality and the country at large. He cited that a PWD had been appointed as an Assembly Member in the Municipality.
Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei specified that the items to be given to the PWDs were in varieties based on their own request. He said some were income generated items, others were for investment and the rest were for educational support.
According to the Head of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, Abdullah Dasmanu, eleven (11) people benefited from educational support; seven (7) females and four (4) males and the money ranges from Three Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢300.00) to One Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢1000.00) depending on the school attended and level of education.
He cited that for instance a child at the primary level school fees will be different from that of the second cycle and the tertiary. He said in all, Six Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty Two (GH¢6,122.00) went into education. Twenty three (23) PWDs benefited from Income Generating supports. Comprising fifteen (15) males and eight (8) females.
He added that items received included Deep freezers with fridge guard, bags of rice, beans, gallons of cooking oil, welding machines, fufu pounding machine, among others
He further cited that Mad. Grace Amponsah requested for assistance of Two Thousand Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH¢2500.00) to foot her medical bill and her request was also granted
The beneficiaries rendered an uncommon appreciation to the government and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei for channeling the items to their benefits with a promise to take very good care of them as advised by the Municipal Chief Executive.
