ESMA Observes The 65th Independence Day Celebration

Ghana’s 65th Independence Day Celebration took place on Sunday, 6th of March 2022, in all parts of the country. Ejura held its own at the Ejura Public Park.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei in his address said as the country celebrates its 65 years of existence, it will get the opportunity to reflect on its achievements, success and failure and that would also propel it to plan for a better future.

He commended the organizers of the anniversary for the choice of theme:

“Working together, bouncing back better”.

He said the theme was not only appropriate but suitable for the situation the country is in now.  He said the negative effect of the Covid-19 pandemic had been so huge that it calls for a united and concerted effort to rally together to bounce back on our feet.

He said bouncing back requires support, encouragement, and carefully tailored policies that support the move towards bouncing back. He added that for this reason that the Nana Addo led Government introduced the youth and business / investment stimulus packages for both small and large scale Businesses, and the manufacturing sectors.

Hon. Kingsley Osei urged all and Sundry to go for the COVID – 19 vaccine.  He said COVID – 19 is real and everybody should get vaccinated against the pandemic.  He added that the Health Directorate has more vaccines in stock and anyone who get vaccinated is protected for the daily routines.

He advised that everybody should see one another as brother and sister with one and same aspirations.  Also when conflict is emerging, one should resort to dialogue, and not to take up arms.

He encouraged the youth to channel their energies to productive ventures and eschew violence, illegal expeditions and illicit drugs.  He emphasized that the environment should be kept clean at all times; open defecation should be stopped, as well as dumping refuse into gutters.

Hon. Kingsley Osei ended his address by stating that every household should ensure that gutters in front of their house are clean.

As part of the celebration, a march past competition was organized for the school children of Ejura. At the primary category, the 3rd position went to Ejura RC Primary, they were given bell as their award, the 2nd Position went to Ejura Methodist primary, they were given football as their award, the 1st Position went to Ejura Model primary, they were given Jersey as their award.

At the Junior High level, the 3rd position went to Ejura Experimental  JHS  they were given Football, Ejura RC  JHS emerged 2nd  they were given Wall clock and the 1st Position went to Ejura Presby JHS they were awarded Jersey.
