MCE Calls for Emergency MUSEC Meeting


In attendance were the Municipal Coordinating Director – Louisa Benon (Mrs.), Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, Divisional Police Commander, Divisional Crime Officer, the Municipal Prisons Commander, the Municipal Fire Officer, a representative from the Traditional Council, the Municipal Ambulance Commander, the Municipal Immigration Commander, the Military Commander – Ejura and a representative of the National Intelligence Bureau.
In addition were the Parliamentary Candidates for both NPP and NDC, the Ejura Fulani Chief, Chairman of the Ejura cattle sellers and the Ejura Zongo Chief.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei, who chaired the meeting requested for a detailed report from the Municipal EC officer – Mrs. Faustina Wiafe on their status of readiness for the Election. She presented to the committee her challenges which was later deliberated on by members. The MCE promised to help resolve those issues in consultation with committee members before the end of the month.
On the matter of invasion by the Fulani Herdsmen, MUSEC asked their Chief and Leaders to caution their herdsmen on their activities and to bring forth those who commit crimes so as to prevent the infamous name tag. They were also asked to take responsibility for damages caused by their herdsmen and try to resolve issues amicably to prevent escalation.
In the case of the two major political parties, MUSEC assured them of their readiness to ensure a free and fair election as well as handling of any electoral violence. The Parliamentary Candidates were asked to have talks with their party faithfuls and to have them understand that all vote will be cast and accounted for.
To concluded the meeting, the Chairman thanked member for honoring his invitation to this crucial meeting as this was vital to ensure lasting peace within the municipality and beyond and also reiterated his support in ensuring that.
