Ejura 24-Hour Economy Market Takes Shape as MCE and MP Inspect Construction Progress

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura-Sekyedumase, Hon. Rafiu Adam Seidu, together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ejura-Sekyedumase Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Bawah Braimah, on Monday, 14th September 2026, inspected the ongoing construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market at Ejura.
The inspection formed part of the continued monitoring of the project following its official commencement earlier in the year. It provided an opportunity for the municipal leadership, project consultants and other stakeholders to assess progress on site, engage the contractor and ensure that construction remains on course.
The Ejura 24-Hour Economy Market project officially commenced with a sod-cutting ceremony led by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, on Friday, 22nd May 2026.
The ceremony marked an important milestone in the implementation of the Government of Ghana’s flagship 24-Hour Economy programme within the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality.
The 24-Hour Economy initiative seeks to create the conditions for increased economic activity, employment generation and expanded opportunities for businesses, traders and entrepreneurs. The development of modern market infrastructure forms an important component of this broader vision, providing facilities and an environment capable of supporting commercial activities beyond conventional trading hours.
The Ejura project therefore represents the translation of a national economic policy into a tangible development intervention at the municipal level, with the potential to strengthen local commerce and create new economic opportunities for residents.

The MCE expressed his appreciation to Batitech Construction Company for the dedication, commitment and hard work demonstrated towards the construction of the market.
He encouraged the contractor to maintain the momentum and quality of work, assuring the company that the Assembly remains fully supportive of the project and will provide the necessary assistance within its mandate to facilitate its smooth and timely completion.
Hon. Rafiu described the 24-Hour Economy Market as an important intervention with the potential to significantly strengthen economic activities within the Municipality.
According to the MCE, the completed facility will provide a more conducive environment for traders, entrepreneurs and businesses, while creating employment opportunities and supporting the expansion of local enterprises.
He noted that the project would contribute to the economic transformation of Ejura-Sekyedumase by providing an organized and modern commercial environment capable of supporting increased economic activity.
The development is also expected to further enhance Ejura’s position as an important commercial center, particularly given the Municipality’s strong agricultural and trading activities.
The MCE further emphasized that the project demonstrates the importance of collaboration among the national government, Regional Coordinating Council, Municipal Assembly, Parliament, traditional authorities, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders in advancing development.
He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to engaging relevant stakeholders and development partners to attract additional projects, investments and economic opportunities to the Municipality.
He noted that sustained collaboration and stakeholder engagement remain essential to ensuring that development interventions translate into tangible improvements in the lives and livelihoods of residents.
Providing an update on the project, the Consultant, Ing. Charles Anning of Eco-Planners and Engineers, indicated that the project was approximately 10% complete at the time of the inspection.
He further stated that, subject to the smooth implementation of the various phases of construction, the entire project was expected to be completed within approximately one and a half years.
The update provided an opportunity for the municipal leadership and other stakeholders to assess the pace of construction and reinforce the importance of maintaining the required standards and timelines.
The site inspection brought together the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Adongo; Assembly Members; Heads of Departments; party representatives; and other key stakeholders.

As construction progresses, the leadership of the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality remains committed to working closely with the contractor, consultants, government agencies and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the project.
From the sod-cutting ceremony in May to the progress inspection in September, the Ejura 24-Hour Economy Market demonstrates the progression of the Government’s national economic vision from policy and commitment to implementation at the local level.
When completed, the facility is expected to provide new opportunities for traders and entrepreneurs, support employment creation, improve the trading environment and contribute to a more vibrant local economy.
For Ejura-Sekyedumase, the project represents more than the construction of a market facility. It is an investment in the Municipality’s economic infrastructure and a step towards creating an environment where businesses can grow, livelihoods can be strengthened and residents can benefit from expanded economic opportunities.
