Cleanliness is next to godliness; this phrase which can be said to be in line with the Governments Agenda of Keeping Ghana Clean and the Corporate Social Responsibility of Churches has led the Ejura branch of the Church of Pentecost to organize a cleanup exercise of the Business center of the Ejura Township.
The Event dubbed as the Environmental Care Campaign was held on Saturday 29th February 2020. The M.C.E of the Ejura – Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Salisu Bamba took time off to join the campaign team in cleaning his Municipality’s capital town.
The Cleanup Exercise which lasted for about five hours (5hrs), from 6:30 am to 11:30 pm had in attendance staffs of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Members of the Church, some NPP Party Executives, some staffs of the Municipal Assembly and the General Public.
Participation was overwhelmed and encouraged as church members poured out onto the principal streets of Ejura in their numbers to champion the Environmental Care Campaign.
The Campaign commenced from the Ejurafie Pentecost Church to the Central Business Area of the Ejura Township. Participants cleared wastes, Desilted Chock Gutters, gathered and disposed of littering, swept and kept public facilities clean and many more as this was geared towards the prevention of outbreak of diseases.
In an interview with the media, The Hon. MCE hinted on the importance of the campaign and his commitment to do what he can to keep Ejura clean as aligned with the Governments Agenda. He said
“Sanitation is a shared and collective responsibility of all citizens and I therefore challenged all citizens to keep their environment clean as cleanliness is next to godliness”.
He also acknowledged the timely execution of this campaign as it meets up with the raining season which is most often accompanied by floods.
The Event was however a successful one as plans are in motion to have it frequented.
