SWCD Holds Sensitization Workshop On ISSOP For Child Protection And Family Welfare

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development headed by Mr. Abdallah Dasmanu held a sensitization workshop on Inter-Sectorial Standard Operating Procedures (ISSOP) for child protection and family welfare at the Assembly Hall on Tuesday, 10th August, 2021.

The Municipal Chief Executive, the Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Planning Officer, represented by the Municipal Planning Officer, Mr. Lawrence Webadua in his address said the ISSOP is a good initiative implemented by the government.

He added that when it comes to the issue of child protection and family welfare, most sectors are required depending on the issue at stake.  He added that when all these sectors are working together as one team; it makes solving issues very easy.

The Municipal Head for the Department, Mr. Abdallah Dasmanu in his welcome address said despite the commendable services rendered by the social Welfare institutions, the timeliness and quality of services remains a challenge and the introduction of ISSOP was going to ensure effectiveness of services rendered.

He highlighted the sector that formed the ISSOP.  They included The Municipal Coordinating Director, Municipal Planning Officer, Ghana Education Services (GES), Ghana Health Services (GHS), Ghana Police Services, Birth and Death Registry, National Health Insurance Scheme, District High Court, the Traditional Council, the Christian Council, the Muslim Community, Commission for Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).

Mr. Abdallah added that the sector whose names were not mentioned as part of ISSOP were not left out; they are all needed for effective child protection and family welfare and they would be contacted when the need arises.  He elaborated that the essence of the workshop was to educate members on their role as ISSOP.

The programme which was chaired by Nkosuohene of the Ejura Traditional Council, Nana Agyeman Prempeh Aning and the Benkumhene of the Ejura Traditional Council, Nana Okofo Asante expressed the Traditional Authorities support for the initiative.
