ESMA Organizes Intersectorial Meeting

The Local Government Act, 2016, Act 936, Section 81(1) states that the District Assembly shall collaborate and co-operate with non decentralized departments, state owned enterprise and public corporation operating in the district to ensure a coordinated approach to the development and management of the district.

In line with this mandate, the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipal Assembly held an intersectorial stakeholders meeting on the 22nd August 2023 to receive information and familiarize itself with activities carried out by the various public departments and sectors operating in the municipality.

These sectors include Agriculture, Health Service, Forestry Commission, Fire Service, Prison Service, Police Service, Education, NEDCO/VRA, Health Insurance, Immigration Service, Community Water and Sanitation, Social Welfare and Community Development, Business Advisory Center, CHRAJ, etc.

In his opening remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) – Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei welcomed the house and iterated the need for all heads of public sectors in the municipal to meet frequently to deliberate on issues confronting them and receive contributions to improve upon the service delivery of the sectors involved.

On the part of the Municipal Co-ordinating Director (MCD) – Mr. Fred B. Kpodo detailed on the need for all members to take up their roles in the contract to achieve a collective success. He further stressed on the need for inter-departmental/unit collaboration for effective division of labour.

All the heads of the various departments and sectors represented took turns to brief the house on the activities undertaken and challenges faced in the period under review. Several concerns were raised and the heads responded to the concerns to the satisfaction of the house.

In his closing remarks, the MCE acknowledged all submissions and assured all members that he will do his possible best to ensure that all concerns are addressed. He finally thanked all members for honouring his invitation.
